Construction technology
01. Runway Base Layer: The base typically consists of either a cement or asphalt foundation. For cement foundations, the cast-in-place thickness should be between 100 and 200 millimeters. After pouring, the curing period is approximately 28 days. The base’s moisture content must not exceed 8% before proceeding with the surface layer construction. Asphalt foundations generally have a thickness of 100 millimeters. After compaction, the curing period must last at least one week before the surface layer can be applied. Before applying the surface layer, the cement foundation must be thoroughly ground across its entire surface. After grinding, the surface must be thoroughly cleaned with water, allowed to dry completely, and then coated with a single-component EPDM adhesive. For asphalt foundations, construction can only commence once the surface is free of any moisture and free of dirt.
02. Sealing Primer Layer: Both cement-based and asphalt-based surfaces can be directly coated with a single-component track adhesive, allowing the next construction step to proceed immediately after rolling. If the adhesive is too thick, you can add a small amount of leveling agent, mix thoroughly, and then use it. Remember not to add any other diluents.
03. Runway Granular Base Layer: For the colored granular layer, use 10 kg of granules and 1.42 kg of adhesive. After thoroughly mixing them together, use a paving machine to spread the mixture evenly in one go to the designed thickness. Do not proceed to the next construction step until the entire surface has completely dried and no longer sticks to your hands.
04. Granular Base PU Leveling Layer: Mix the following components: 1 part of two-component 1:5 PU resin, fine rubber powder, and runway-specific catalyst. For each batch: 50 kg of PUB resin with red pigment, 10 kg of PUA adhesive, 6 kg of fine red rubber powder, 0.3 kg of runway-specific catalyst, and 15 kg of leveling agent. Thoroughly mix all ingredients together until uniform. Then, using a rubber rake or toothed rake, spread the mixture evenly over the prepared base layer of granules, ensuring that the mixture fills the gaps between the granules and extends 1–2 mm above the surface of the base layer. Only after the entire surface has completely dried can you proceed to the next step of construction.
05, First layer of runway surfacing: Mix the following components in a 1:2 ratio: two-component PU, surface spray granules, runway-specific catalyst, and leveling agent. For each batch: 20 kg of red pigment for surface spray B, 10 kg of adhesive for surface spray A, 25 kg of surface spray granules, 0.15 kg of runway-specific catalyst, and 1.5 kg of leveling agent. After thoroughly mixing all ingredients together until uniform, use a runway spraying machine to apply the mixture onto the entire track surface, spraying in a back-and-forth pattern from left to right. Only after the entire surface has completely dried can you proceed to the next step of construction.
06. Second layer of runway surfacing: Similarly, use a two-component 1:2 PU system—after mixing the surface coating particles, runway-specific catalyst, and leveling agent—follow these proportions for each batch: 20 kg of red pigment for Surface Coating Component B + 10 kg of adhesive for Surface Coating Component A + 25 kg of surface coating particles + 0.15 kg of runway-specific catalyst + 1.5 kg of leveling agent. After thoroughly mixing all ingredients together until uniform, apply the mixture to the entire track using a track spraying machine, spraying in the reverse direction—moving from right to left—in a staggered pattern, opposite to the direction of the first surface-coating layer. Only after the entire surface has completely dried can you proceed to the next step of construction.
07. Runway marking layer: The runway marking paint is a proprietary oil-based marking paint developed by our company. After thoroughly mixing Components A and B at a 1:1 ratio, it can be applied using a runway marking machine or an air compressor for spraying.
